FAQs

Walnut blasting and carbon build up questions.

Answers to the questions customers usually ask before booking intake carbon cleaning.

What is walnut blasting?

Walnut blasting is a method of cleaning intake valves and ports using crushed walnut shell media. It removes hard carbon deposits from areas that fuel additives often cannot reach.

Is walnut blasting better than chemical carbon cleaning?

For heavy intake valve carbon build up, walnut blasting is usually more effective because it physically removes the deposit. Chemical treatments can be useful in some lighter cases, but they are not the same service.

How do I know if my engine has carbon build up?

Common symptoms include rough idle, poor cold starts, hesitation, misfires, poor economy, loss of power, and airflow or EGR related fault codes. Diagnosis is still needed before cleaning is recommended.

Do Mazda Skyactiv engines suffer from carbon build up?

Skyactiv-D diesel and Skyactiv-G petrol engines can suffer from intake carbon and soot deposits. Mazda 3, Mazda 6 and CX models are common enquiries.

How long does walnut blasting take?

Timing depends on the vehicle and engine layout. Send the registration and engine details and we can advise on likely booking time.

Can you collect my vehicle?

Yes, collection and drop off can be arranged by appointment across Wales, the West Midlands, the South West and the Home Counties.

What should I send before booking?

Please send your registration, engine if known, mileage, symptoms, fault codes, location, and any photos or diagnostic reports you already have.
